At MyDocs, we believe that your data belongs to you. Our architecture is designed with a "Local-First" philosophy, ensuring that your most sensitive documents never leave your personal computer. This policy explains how we handle information when you use our website, local agent, and dashboard.
Unlike traditional SaaS platforms, MyDocs does not upload your documents to our servers. All indexing, embedding, and storage of your personal files occur strictly on your local machine within the ~/.mydocs directory.
We do not have access to the files you select. When you configure a Private Vault, data processing is handled by local LLMs. In Standard Knowledge Base mode, only the relevant text snippets required to answer your specific query are sent to third-party AI providers (e.g., OpenAI).
Our local agent may generate logs to help with troubleshooting. These logs stay on your machine and are never transmitted to us unless you manually provide them for support purposes.
If you use commercial models (GPT-5.2, Claude, Gemini), your data is subject to the privacy policies of those respective providers. We recommend using the Private Vault with local models for documents requiring strict air-gapped security.
On our landing page, we use minimal cookies to understand site traffic. We do not track your activity inside the local dashboard. You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time.
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect the integrity of our software. However, since your data is stored locally, the ultimate security of your files depends on your own device security and disk encryption.
Since we do not store your documents on our servers, we cannot "delete" your data because we never had it. You have full control to delete the ~/.mydocsfolder on your machine at any time to remove all traces of indexed data.
